Turkey Hunting

21 lb. 4 ounce Tom turkeyWild turkey hunting in Maine is some of the finest turkey hunting in New England. Thanks to the efforts of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, there are now more turkeys in Maine than ever before. Each year many of our sportsmen successfully harvest 20+ pound birds. Outdoor Life quoted that Waldo County Maine has some of the best turkey hunting east of the Mississippi and is a place to hunt if you want a once in a lifetime trophy.

Your day will start at 4:00 a.m. You will hunt many pre-scouted locations where birds are roosting. Nothing will get your adrenaline flowing more than a flock of gobblers waking up in the pre-dawn morning hours on the roost. The hunting will vary. You may hunt in clover fields or wooded areas, depending on what the birds are doing. We provide decoys and will do the calling for you or you may call your own turkey if you wish. A one-on-one hunt with Whispering Wings Guide Service with a shotgun or bow will make for a memorable experience.

Large tom turkeyIn the past turkey permits were distributed through a random lottery system. Because of the tremendous success of turkey reintroduction efforts and thriving populations, turkey licenses are now available to everyone over the counter at the time you purchase your license.
